BIFMA level certification is a non-mandatory guideline for companies that make furniture for businesses and institutions. It sets specific benchmarks for different levels of sustainability for manufacturers at different stages of their sustainability journey. Manufacturers that achieve this certification show that their products, manufacturing plants, and company policies meet strict third-party sustainability standards. Manufacturers can earn credits in four areas: Materials, Energy and Atmosphere, Human and Ecosystem Health, and Social Responsibility.
