MSME / Udyam Registration
MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) registration, also known as Udyam registration, is a process of registering a business with the government of India as an MSME. This registration is mandatory for businesses that fall under the MSME category and is done through the Udyam registration portal. MSME registration provides benefits such as access to government schemes and subsidies, easy loan access, and more. Categories For MSME Udyam Registration
Entities that meet the following criteria can apply for MSME/Udyam registration:
- Micro Enterprises: Investment in plant and machinery is less than INR 1 crore and annual turnover is less than INR 5 crores.
- Small Enterprises: Investment in plant and machinery is less than INR 10 crores and annual turnover is less than INR 50 crores.
- Medium Enterprises: Investment in plant and machinery is less than INR 50 crores and annual turnover is less than INR 250 crores.
Requirements for MSME Udyam Registration
Different types of firms and the corresponding individual whose Aadhaar number is required:
- For a proprietorship firm, the Aadhaar number of the proprietor is needed.
- For a partnership firm, the Aadhaar number of the managing partner is required.
- In the case of a Hindu Undivided Family, the Aadhaar number of the Karta is needed.
- For a company, cooperative society, trust, or Limited Liability Partnership, the Aadhaar number of the authorized signatory is required.
Important Notes
1. To be eligible for Udyam Registration, a PAN and GSTIN number (as per the CGST Act 2017 and as notified by the Ministry of MSME in S.O. 1055(E) dated March 5, 2021) is required as of April 1, 2021.
2. Businesses that have EM-II or UAM registration or any other registration issued by any authority under the Ministry of MSME will need to re-register.
3. Only one Udyam Registration can be filed per enterprise, but multiple activities such as manufacturing, service, or both can be specified or added to one registration.
